A common situation encountered on site is: after the heat exchanger has been running for a period of time, the inlet-outlet temperature difference narrows and the shell-side pressure drop rises; upon inspection, fouling or tube bundle blockage is found. If procurement personnel focus only on heat transfer area during the selection stage and ignore medium characteristics and pressure drop constraints, later operation and maintenance costs often exceed expectations.
Plate heat exchangers have a compact structure and are suitable for occasions with limited space and small temperature differences; shell-and-tube heat exchangers occupy a relatively larger footprint, but can withstand higher design pressure and temperature, different materials can be selected for the tube side and shell side respectively, and they are better adapted to media containing particles or prone to fouling. GHL-115 retains a removable tube bundle design in its structure, facilitating mechanical cleaning, and is suitable for process sections with requirements on continuous operation cycles.
During procurement, confirm item by item against design temperature and pressure, heat transfer area, tube-side and shell-side media, connection specifications, and material requirements. For GHL-115, the tube side can be carbon steel or stainless steel, and the shell-side material should be matched according to medium corrosiveness; the heat transfer area and tube-side flow velocity need to be calculated simultaneously to avoid exceeding the pressure drop limit due to increasing flow velocity in order to reduce volume. If on-site space is limited or the temperature difference is small, the heat transfer area and pressure drop should be comprehensively evaluated before determining the specifications.
Compared with direct selection by area, it is recommended to first confirm medium cleanliness and allowable pressure drop, then work backward to determine tube-side flow velocity and tube bundle arrangement, and finally verify the shell-side connection orientation and on-site foundation dimensions. GHL-115 offers multiple connection orientation combinations; before procurement, confirm them in conjunction with piping routing to reduce on-site pipe modification work.
