When evaluating a plate-fin heat exchanger, procurement personnel should not only verify the design pressure and temperature range but also pay attention to the maintainability of the equipment after commissioning. The FHX-30 plate-fin heat exchanger consists of channel layers formed by partitions, fins, seals, and flow guide fins, and its compact structure is relatively sensitive to the uniformity of fluid distribution.
Inspection Directions for Continuous Rise in Outlet Temperature
If the outlet temperature continues to rise during operation, first check whether the fin surfaces have fouling. The equivalent diameter of the channels in a plate-fin heat exchanger is relatively small, and suspended solids or crystallized substances in the medium tend to deposit between the fins, reducing heat transfer efficiency. At this time, cleaning should be arranged according to the characteristics of the medium, and the flow guide fin area should be checked for local blockage. At the same time, the uniformity of fluid distribution also needs to be verified; when the flow deviation among channels is too large, overheating in some channels will raise the overall outlet temperature.
Countermeasures for Significant Increase in Pressure Drop
An increase in pressure drop is usually related to channel blockage or fin deformation. Procurement personnel may require the supplier to provide structural descriptions of channels that can be disassembled or cleaned, facilitating later maintenance. When abnormal pressure drop is found on site, recent flow and temperature records should first be compared to confirm whether it is caused by load changes, and then the inlet filter and distribution section should be checked. If the pressure drop remains persistently high, shutdown inspection of the fin surface condition is required to avoid increased energy consumption from long-term high-resistance operation.
Operating Parameter Monitoring and Trend Files
Recording the heat exchanger inlet and outlet temperature, pressure, and flow data every shift and establishing trend files can help detect early signs of fouling and uneven distribution in advance. In the technical agreement, procurement personnel can specify the parameter recording points and instrument interface locations to provide a data basis for subsequent maintenance. The selection boundaries of the FHX-30 plate-fin heat exchanger must first be checked against the design pressure and applicable temperature, and the specified range must not be exceeded during operation to avoid damage to the sealing structure.
