When purchasing a stainless steel explosion-proof heating rod, it is necessary to first verify the explosive gas mixture level and temperature class of the operating environment. The product is designed according to the GB 3836 series standards; the flameproof enclosure can withstand an internal explosion without damage and prevents flame propagation to the outside. The common protection rating is IP65, suitable for Zone 1 and Zone 2 hazardous locations. During selection, confirm the on-site gas category (such as IIA, IIB) and temperature class (T1~T4) to ensure that the maximum surface temperature of the heating rod does not exceed the ignition temperature of the medium.
Power selection must consider tank volume, insulation thickness, minimum ambient temperature, and heating time requirements. For example, heating 1 cubic meter of water medium from 10°C to 60°C requires approximately 40 kW·h of heat; if it must be completed in 2 hours, the heating power should be no less than 20 kW. The product supports 220V or 380V voltage; a three-phase 380V connection can reduce single-phase current and lower line losses. It is recommended to reserve a 15%~20% power margin to avoid long-term full-load operation.
The heating rod shell is made of 304 or 316L stainless steel; 316L is suitable for media containing chloride ions or weakly acidic media. The internal PTC ceramic heating element and corrugated aluminum strips are bonded at high temperature, resulting in low thermal resistance, high heat exchange efficiency, and low power attenuation. When the fan fails and stops rotating, the power of the PTC element automatically drops sharply, and the surface temperature remains near the Curie temperature (about 250°C), so it will not produce the surface high-temperature hazard like an electric heating tube.
Installation methods include threaded connection and flange connection. Common thread specifications are G1" and G1½"; flanges follow the JB/T 82 standard. The junction box should face upward or sideways to avoid water accumulation. During maintenance, regularly check insulation resistance (cold state ≥20MΩ) and clean surface scale. Typical applications include tank heat tracing, reactor heating, and pipeline freeze protection in the petroleum, chemical, and pharmaceutical industries.
