A fine chemical plant needs to cool intermediate reaction materials from 85°C to 45°C, with a hot side flow rate of about 12 m³/h, and circulating water on the cold side with an inlet temperature of 32°C. The cold side outlet temperature and allowable pressure drop were not provided on site, which is a common situation where hot side and cold side parameters are incomplete. Technical engineers can first estimate the required heat exchange area based on heat balance according to the hot side inlet temperature and flow rate, and then back-calculate the cold side flow rate based on the circulating water return temperature limit. In such scenarios, the BR-50 plate heat exchanger can adapt to the cooling load by adjusting the number of plates and pass arrangement. During actual selection, a balance must be struck between heat transfer efficiency and pump power consumption, and simulation calculations based on specific working condition parameters are recommended.
Purchasing personnel should first request the complete composition, concentration, operating temperature, and whether particulates are present from the process side. If the intermediate material contains chloride ions or is weakly acidic, corrosion-resistant rubber can be selected for the gaskets, while the plate material needs to be determined according to the concentration and temperature curve. The BR-50 plate heat exchanger can provide conventional plate options such as 304 and 316L, and gaskets are confirmed separately based on medium compatibility. For working conditions containing a small amount of particulates, it is necessary to evaluate whether the channel spacing meets the passability requirements, and if necessary, install a filtration device at the inlet.
Scaling and microbial growth are common problems on the circulating water side. The inter-plate flow velocity design of the BR-50 plate heat exchanger can maintain a certain degree of turbulence at relatively low pump power consumption, which helps slow down fouling deposition. During operation, it is recommended to monitor changes in the pressure difference between the cold side inlet and outlet, and arrange cleaning when the pressure difference exceeds a certain proportion of the initial value. The cleaning method should preferably combine chemical cleaning with low-pressure water flushing to avoid damaging the plate sealing surfaces.
The BR-50 plate heat exchanger adopts a frame clamping structure, and space for plate extraction must be reserved during installation. The clamping dimension should be controlled according to the accompanying technical documents. Over-tightening may cause gasket deformation, while under-tightening may easily lead to external leakage. In daily maintenance, if leakage is found, first check the clamping dimension and gasket condition, and then determine whether the plates need to be replaced.
