During design and selection, the air-side face area and fin spacing of a finned tube heat exchanger determine the heat exchange margin. Taking a drying line as an example, the required temperature difference between inlet and outlet air is ≥25°C, with an ambient temperature of -20 to +60°C and relative humidity <80%.
Under the same heat exchange capacity, the finned tube structure is compact and can reduce duct footprint; the double-pipe type requires a larger installation surface. During selection, air volume must be calculated. A decrease in air volume or a reduction in temperature difference often indicates dust accumulation or scaling.
It is recommended to record the inlet-outlet temperature difference and air volume changes as a basis for cleaning cycles. When equipped with electric heating elements, the leakage current is <0.5mA and the insulation resistance is ≥20MΩ, requiring regular testing.
Suitable for air-cooled air conditioning, compressed air aftercooling, and process air circulation. Airflows with high dust content should be equipped with filtration to avoid fin blockage. Corrosive environments require the selection of appropriate materials.
