The BHD-45 stainless steel explosion-proof heater is designed in accordance with the GB 3836 series of standards and is suitable for Zone 1 and Zone 2 explosive gas atmospheres, with an explosion-proof marking of Ex d IIC T4 Gb. During design and selection, the on-site hazardous area classification and the ignition temperature group of the medium must be confirmed. The equipment housing is made of stainless steel with a protection rating of IP65, and it can operate stably in environments from -20°C to +60°C with relative humidity below 95%. Selection personnel should verify the corrosiveness of the process medium and, if necessary, choose a higher-grade stainless steel grade.
Surface load is a key parameter affecting heater life. Under a rated voltage of 220V or 380V, the BHD-45 series offers a surface power density of 1.0–2.3 W/cm². For continuous operating conditions such as tank tracing and pipeline freeze protection, a surface load not exceeding 1.8 W/cm² is recommended; for intermittent high-load scenarios such as reactor preheating, it may be appropriately increased to 2.2 W/cm², but the medium flow condition must be evaluated. Power ranges from 1 kW to 5 kW, and the external dimensions L and L1 vary with power; refer to the corresponding relationships in the HRY series parameter table for details. During design, the cold-end length must be reserved to prevent overheating of the terminal enclosure.
Common problems include: installing the heater in the sediment zone at the bottom of a tank, resulting in poor local heat dissipation; failing to ensure the minimum immersion depth required by the manual, causing dry burning; and failure to reliably ground the terminal enclosure or failure to promptly replace aging sealing rings. Routine maintenance should include regular checks of insulation resistance (not less than 1 MΩ) and fastener condition, and the power supply should be cut off during shutdown. In applications such as tank tracing, pipeline freeze protection, and reactor preheating in petroleum, chemical, and pharmaceutical facilities, cleaning intervals should also be established based on the characteristics of the medium.
The voltage level must match the on-site power supply. 220V single-phase is suitable for low-power (≤2 kW) applications, while 380V three-phase is suitable for 3 kW and above to balance the load. The BHD-45 series offers star or delta connection options, which design and selection personnel should determine based on the distribution system capacity and starting current requirements. For local preheating of metal components such as hulls and towers, a low surface load design with a temperature control loop is recommended to avoid overheating deformation.
