Fluctuations in medium composition are often encountered on site. The jacket material must be selected according to the medium type: carbon steel is suitable for neutral or weakly corrosive media, while stainless steel is used for highly corrosive conditions. O&M personnel should refer to the material compatibility table and determine the jacket material based on medium composition, concentration, and temperature to avoid jacket corrosion perforation caused by improper material selection. If medium parameters change, compatibility must be re-evaluated.
It is recommended to check the temperature record curve once a quarter, focusing on whether the inlet-outlet temperature difference deviates from the design value. Abnormal fluctuations in the curve may indicate scaling or uneven flow distribution, and inspection should be arranged promptly. Recorded data can serve as a reference for determining cleaning cycles, but not as a mandatory basis for replacement.
The equipment should be arranged in a location convenient for observation and maintenance, and the hot and cold side piping connections must avoid stress transfer to the jacket. For vertical installation, confirm that the medium flow direction matches the marking. Reserve sufficient surrounding space for subsequent disassembly and inspection and temperature instrument calibration.
During inspection, check the jacket outer surface for signs of leakage or corrosion and check the fastening status of the connecting flanges. If the temperature record curve is found to deviate continuously, first check the flow rate and medium parameters, then determine whether internal inspection is needed. Maintenance operations should be performed according to the equipment manual, and operating parameters should not be adjusted arbitrarily.
